Commentary Added

Last week, the gang convened to do the commentary for Everybody Hates Jeff. It was a lovely, funny stroll down memory lane as we revisited our first effort and marveled at what we accomplished. I know this is tooting our own horn but goddamnit, if we don't who will? I love the way this movie came out, in spite of all its jumped shots, bad audio, and other miscellaneous bloopers. Not many people can say they've made a feature film, and probably less can say they made one for less than three hundred bucks. Stay tuned for the official DVD release. It's coming soon. I promise.

Everybody (at Desi 'n' Friends) Hates Jeff

Our very special friends from New York are coming out to San Diego to screen their movie, The Freaks, Nerds, and Romantics, featuring cameo appearances by the Bouncing Souls and starring New York cable access icons – The Slack Pack.

Afterwards, we’ll show our little flick, Everybody Hates Jeff. If you haven’t seen it yet, or if the last time you saw it, the audio was jacked up, now’s your chance to see it as good as it’s going to get.

Admission is free – but please do us a favor and buy (us) some drinks.

Life Imitates Art Once Again

How weird is this?

Joe N' Andy's Hole in the Wall is for sale. (To find out why this is weird, you have to see the movie.)

We'll be having a not-so-secret screening of our flick on December 15 at Joe N' Andy's to say, "Adios, and thanks for all the memories (and permission to shoot there)".

Email us for details - they can't be posted because we don't exactly know what they are.

Happy Holidays!

P.S. First reading for the next flick is the weekend after Superbowl. Wheels are turning with that project and we are soooooooooo excited.

Dear Justin,

Your timing is impeccable.

This blog entry goes out to Justin who is somewhere in the world wondering what ever happened to Everybody Hates Jeff (THE MOVIE). Did he get scammed into buying some stupid t-shirt? Did he get hosed for believing that a motley crew of buttheads could actually create a whole movie? What the hell's going on here?

Justin's email demanding answers literally arrived at the EHJ HQ just as we were putting the coat and hat on this crazy project. (Coat and hat meaning the final touches.)

That's right, kid, it's DONE. Over and done with, and we are moving on.

So what happens next?

We'll try our luck at the film festivals and are tentatively scheduled to have a public screening early next year (Februaryish). In the meantime, we'll be updating the Web site, saying a few prayers, and hoping to God someone out there likes our movie.

We're also getting a jump on the next project. We're so freakin' excited about...

Still Trucking...

I've been busy working on other projects, getting sunburned at the beach, and livi-livi-livi-living la vida loca.

But as it looks like we've abandoned this project, I'll just fill you in with a few details. We HAVE NOT abandoned EHJ. We have simply been on hiatus to restrategize. We did a screening and observed that some things just weren't working so, being the all-purpose little moviemaker, I cut that shit out. Then I added it back again - presenting the info differently. Stupid and boring details, I know. But that's what's going on, in case you're wondering.

Anyway, we're on TRACK now. Total pun intended. Soundtrack, that is.

Hold your breath. She'll be done shortly...

Bummer Quote

"The film, which looks as if it was shot on consumer-grade digital video and by someone who plays the maracas, is to be released in August by Unico Entertainment. "

Man, I hope they don't say that about ours.

My Place in the Sun

Saw Match Point last night after having read glowing reviews here and there. Reminded me of A Place in the Sun.

For a better Woody Allen movie, my vote goes to Take the Money and Run.

When I was in 10th grade, my social studies teacher overheard me saying how I thought Four Weddings and a Funeral was garbage. She told me I wasn't mature enough to understand the movie. She was an obnoxious and generally unpleasant woman so I didn't pay much attention to her lectures, let alone her personal opinions.

Unfortunately, she was probably right.

There are a lot of "great" movies I don't get, probably because my brain refuses to accept that it's OK to be a grown-up moron. Call it immaturity if you wish. There are a ton of "great" movies I don't get because I don't have a good sense of humor nor a love of comedy. Then there are those "great" movies whose only crime is their exorbitant running length. But alas, I hate those too.

Here's my short list of 5 "great" movies I can't stand:

5. Scarface
4. The Jerk
3. Nightmare Before Christmas
2. Ghostbusters
1. Patton

And in case the world is wondering what this scribe considers cinemetic excellence, it's real simple. To quote LeVar Burton, "But you don't have to take my word for it!" Check it out here.
